We were invited to join a old school challenge with Sport Compact Car last Month :-) They wanted to test some 90's cars against new all wheel drive cars.
The Issue will be out in April.We ran Big Willow and then Drag Raced on the front straight 1/2 mile, Followed by a Dyno Test.
We were running the stock VTC Gears and they gave up and killed the low end. We now have Jun Adjustable Gears on the car.
The Drag Racing part sucked because the front straight is extremely slippery.....Also they did not have timers or lights :-/
The way they calculated the 1/4 was with a radar gun .....I do not think the car is even capable of the time they gave with my Wife driving ;-)
They Said we ran 11.7 @ 127 if I remember right....
It was a fair test against the other cars.
At Least we were a full second faster then the any of the rest of the cars, But it really is not representing what any of the cars could do. I had a Blast on the road track and want to go back soon :-P
We held our own against the all wheel drive cars at least for one lap.......Since we are drag racers and we had to run the same tires for both we ran MT ET Street drag radials on the rear.......This worked great for the first lap, But then the tires went away. The test was only for quick lap time so it really did not mater that we only had one good lap. The whole thing was a great experience and the people from the magazine treated us very well.
